FAQs
How do I work with you?
To obtain a quote, please fill in our quote request form
with as much detail as possible. If you are unsure of what materials or print
finishes you’d like to use, we are happy to advise. We love working with our
clients to offer guidance on materials and print methods to translate their
idea or design into a beautiful piece of print. Please send through a mockup of your design,
brand colours or inspiration so we can assist you in choosing papers and print
finishes. After you have confirmed a quote, we’ll send you a digital proof for your approval. This is for you to check all the details are as they should be before we proceed to getting tooling made.
What are your lead times?
Our lead times are 7-14 working days after digital proof approval and payment. We ask for payment prior to delivery. As foil blocking or embossing is a manual process, on rare occasions there might be an issue with tooling or machinery which affects the lead times. Please be mindful of this; if you a have a firm deadline we recommend ordering as soon as possible and notifying us of the deadline when you place the order.
Can you tell me about delivery options?
We deliver worldwide and use
tracked delivery for all bespoke print orders. UK orders will be sent out via
tracked next day delivery. Most UK and international orders will be sent out
with DHL. In some cases, we will seek a quicker courier service if the quoted
time is longer than we’d expect. We’ll let you know the cost of delivery to your destination country when we quote in the Terms & Conditions of the quote.
Please note, international buyers are responsible for any import duties and taxes. Jot Press is not responsible for any delays or customs fees that may occur.
During the production process, we’ll send an automated email requesting the delivery address. We’ll also ask you to supply the recipient’s name, email address and phone number so they can get updates from the courier, if applicable.
Please ensure this is correct as we aren’t responsible if items have been lost due to wrong address supplied.
Do you have a minimum order?
We don’t have a minimum order quantity although we recommend going for
at least 50-100 due to the tooling and set up costs associated with foiling or
embossing. As a guide, here’s what you can expect to pay for 100 business cards:
-
Foil blocking starts at approximately £180 + VAT
and delivery for double sided business cards.
-
Blind emboss with foil blocking on reverse starts
at approximately £261 + VAT and delivery
-
Foil emboss with foil blocking on reverse starts
at approximately £287 + VAT and delivery
These costs will vary depending on choice of materials and complexity of the design. As you increase paper size and tooling size, the price also increases, e.g. A5 notecards will be more than A6 notecards.
We can keep tooling so you don’t pay for this again for future reprints. NB. We don’t keep tooling for event-based stationery (e.g. invites) unless requested to do so.
Can I see a physical sample of my design before it goes to print?
If you’d like to see printed samples before proceeding with the full print run, the cost for these starts at £45 plus tooling. This can vary depending on the complexity of the design and number of elements involved. If the design stays the same, the cost of tooling is deductible from the final print run. The lead time for samples is 7-14 working days as we often have a wait for the materials to be sent for us.Can I see samples of your work?
Yes, you can order our sample pack through our website. Our
sample pack shows the different print finishes we offer on a selection of some
of our favourite papers. It doesn’t include every paper or foil available to us
as the list is endless! If there’s something specific you’d like to see, please
let us know in the comments box when you order. What materials do you work with?
We work a large variety of paper suppliers including GF Smith,
Fedrigoni, Wigston and Fenner. If you’re going for a small print run (less than
1000 units), we recommend looking at GFSmith papers first as they offer good
minimums making it more cost effective and minimising waste. We mainly source our foils from Foilco. You can see the range of foils available on their website. Please note, not all foils work on all boards. If it’s a new foil/paper combination to us, we’ll test it first to ensure it prints well.
Can I get an exact colour match for my design in foil?
It’s not possible to match foil colour exactly, but we can recommend the closest options. It’s worth noting that foils look different on different boards so it can sometimes be worth testing.
Is my artwork suitable for foiling or embossing?
We always review artwork prior to printing to ensure we get the best
possible result. We recommend a minimum of 8pt for foiling text. On occasion we might recommend you increase the tracking to ensure we can get distinct letter forms produced in the tooling.
Generally, we advise against foiling or embossing QR codes as any slight impression can affect the legibility of the code. If a QR code is essential in your design, then we advise it’s a minimum of 25mm in size.
How do I order foil blocked or embossed stickers?
We use Colorplan label sheets to produce stickers. These are available in limited shades including Adriatic, Bright Red, Candy Pink, Claret, Dark Grey, Ebony, Factory Yellow, Harvest, Imperial Blue, Marrs Green, Natural, Pale Grey, Park Green, Racing Green and White Frost.Embossed 50mm round stickers starts at £222 + VAT and delivery.
If none of the Colorplan label shades are suitable for your project, we can convert most papers up to 135gsm into stickers at an additional cost making some beautiful stickers unique to you!
How do I pay for bespoke printing?
Once you’ve placed an order with us and confirmed your proof, we’ll email you a pro forma invoice. Where possible we prefer payment via bank transfer, but we can also accept card payments using PayPal or Stripe online payment – just let us know and we can set this up for you. Please note, there is an additional fee added on via Xero for card payments. How do I set up artwork for foil?
When you’re ready to proceed with your order, please supply artwork as a PDF. Where possible we ask for artwork to be outlined. We avoid using jpegs because this affects the quality of the tooling. If your design includes elements that can’t be outlined (e.g. hand drawn illustrations) or if you’re unsure of this process do get in touch and we’ll be happy to help. We’ll send you a black and white digital proof to scale for you to have one final check of all the details and approve. We will only proceed with tooling once we have written approval via email.
